100 Day Project Day 20
*Update: This is day one of a two-day project. Read part two here.
Day 20 of The 100 Day Project: I have like ten of these fugly black storage bins. They’re just useful enough not to get rid of but at the same time I don’t actually use them because I can’t seem to find the right thing to store in them. They have holes in them, so a lot of things are instantly out of the question. They’re small (I think they’re made for DVDs but who has DVDs anymore?) so it’s not like they fit much. And finally, they’re ugly.
Today I was thinking about getting rid of them since I can’t seem to find the right space for them, then I had an idea. I could hang them on the wall. They’re actually perfect little cubbies for Knick knacks and random things that would otherwise clutter a surface. And all they need to become cute is a little bit of paint.
And here we are.
I got this can of spray paint for $2 on clearance. It’s really pretty.
I was prepared to use like half of the can doing multiple coats since the bins are black, but to my surprise this turned out to be the best spray paint I’ve ever used to date.
Seriously, it was covered in one coat with even color and dried to the touch super fast. It was a nice surprise.
I’m going to let them dry overnight because I just don’t totally trust any fast-drying paint (anyone who has messed up their manicures after leaving the salon with “dry” nails probably gets this feeling), and tomorrow I’ll mount them on the wall.
