100 Day Project Day 23

*Update: This is part one of a five-part project. Read parts two, three, four, and five.

Day 23 of The 100 Day Project: Today I started to make some Roman shades from the awful old mini blinds that were left in the house when we moved in.

First, I had to dismantle them. Whatever psychopath put them up bizarrely drilled straight through the tops of them and into the wooden window frame. That’s honestly the only reason they’re still up... it was too much of a pain to take them down.

So once I got them down, I cut the ladder strings that open and shut the blades then popped off the caps on the bottom piece and removed all of the blinds.

Next, I removed the wand that opens and shuts the blinds and the hook that it attaches to as well as the mechanism inside by popping it out of the frame with the claw end of a hammer. I don’t have pictures of this part.

Tomorrow I’ll have to clean the blinds I’m going to use and the rest of the frame. The guy who lived here before us was a heavy smoker and it stained them.

Makes me glad I quit smoking :)
